About the Trustees

The “Ramakrishnan Chandra Charitable and Educational Trust” was created by Sri.V.Ramakrishnan I.P.S.(V.R) son of Sri.J.Veerusikku Gowder, on 07.03.2003 and registered on 10.03.2003 .Mrs.V.R.Chandra and Mrs.G.Priya, the wife and daughter of the Founder respectively are the life Trustees.

About the Founder

The Founder Sri.V.Ramakrishnan is the Managing Trustee of the Trust. He is a conferred I.P.S. officer who served in the Police Department of Tamilnadu for more then 36 years meritoriously without any blemish throughout in various capacities in law and order, CID and Vigilance and Anti-corruption. He has been awarded several rewards including two chief Minister’s Medals for meritorious service and gallantry acts in 1985 and 1991 respectively.

On 21.05.1991 at about 10.15 P.M he received the former Prime Minister and the then President of All India Congress Party Sri Rajiv Gandhi from his car at the alighting point of the General Election Public Meeting Place Sriperumpudhur and took him to the Rostrum Sri Rajiv Gandhi received garlands from a few congress leaders and stopped to hear a poem on him by the daughter of a congress lady when a bomb blast happened and he died of bomb blast along with his security officer.Sri.Ramakrishnan was attacked by the mob, while most of the Police and Public fled from the place. He withstood the attack, remained at the spot risking his life and took the body of Sri Rajiv Gandhi to Madras Govt. General Hospital along with Sri.G.K.Mooppanar, Vazhapadi Ramamoorthy and others in police bus and handed over the body of Sri Rajiv Gandhi after Post Mortem. He was awarded Gallantry Medal for his courageous act and assisting the then IGP Sri R.K.Raghavan in safeguarding the scene.

He took voluntary retirement on 15th Dec 1995 for doing service for the development of women and children and also with an object to develop the skill of Human Resources in the rural areas more particularly in sports side by enhancing the ability of the students and youth to the international level and created a Human Resources Development centre in 1996 at his birth place Kullappa Goundanpatti, (Founded by his great grandfather Kullappa Gowder) Cumbum, Theni (Dt), Tamil Nadu, India. Then he started the College of Physical Education initially to boys and then changed the Diploma Course for 2 Years to girls only. The Teacher Education Course B.Ed 1 Year for graduates in the rural areas was started in 2007 exclusively for girls. And the Diploma Course D.El.Ed 2 Years exclusively for girls. who have passed plus 2 (12th std) was also started in 2010. Bachleor of Physical Education – B.P.Ed – (1 year) course was also started in 2005 and was relinquished after 4 years in 2009.
