The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) was established in 1936 and became a Government Deemed University in 1964. In December 2011, under the aegis of UGC and AICTE, TISS set up the Schoolof Vocational Education (SVE) to provide immediate and definite to improve the skill levels of millions of youth through appropriate vocational training programme. The target beneficiary would include organised and unorganised workforce across industry and aims to cover every individual who needs to develop employee skills. SVE has been set up with a vision of creating an ecosystem that would bring back the dignity of labour to all professions and occupations to create sustainable source of income for the aspiring youth in the country.
